Ditch the shell. Let your companion roam free.
Roam Free keeps the complete Nest—companions, care, dialogue, scenes, themes, arcade, keepsakes and custom hatching—but gives the little world the whole phone screen. It begins completely local; a connected agent mind is there only if you invite one.
The same little life
More room, not fewer features.
On a phone, the room runs edge to edge. On a larger screen it settles into a calm portrait terrarium, keeping detailed companion art at a comfortable size. Nothing about care becomes harsher. Roam stays on your device unless you deliberately export something or enable its optional agent Mind.
Three gentle layers
Everything remains within a thumb’s reach.
Roam replaces the three physical shell buttons with direct controls. Arcade activities still use SELECT, ENTER and BACK so every game remains playable without covering the action.

Warmth, words, calm, bond, food and every custom care name appear directly. Swipe sideways on a phone; on desktop, use the visible arrow buttons to reach Tap and Show.
Games, ledger, style, Mind, more.
The lower navigation opens the arcade, private history, all 45 colour and lettering styles, backups, accessibility, recovery, keepsakes and the optional agent Mind.
A mind, only if invited
Local first. Connected when you choose.
Roam Free does not contact an agent by default. Its familiar local dialogue and behaviour remain in charge until you deliberately enable a Mind.
Open Roam and care for your companion as usual. The Talk field remains closed, scripted companion lines stay active, and no agent events leave the app.
Open Mind → Setup, choose Enable an agent mind, then use the built-in demo or pair Letta, OpenClaw or Hermes through the narrow Lochan Relay.
You remain in control: choose which care, weather, game and memory details may cross the bridge. Turning the Mind off immediately returns Roam Free to local dialogue and behaviour. Follow the connection guide for the shared relay and provider setup.
Keep it close
Install it beside the other Nests.
Roam Free has its own app identity, storage, companion library and offline cache. Trying it cannot overwrite the original shell Nest or Connected Nest.
Open Roam Free, open the browser menu, then choose Install app or Add to Home screen. Launch it once online so its room and built-in companions are safely available offline.
Open Roam Free in Safari, tap Share, choose Add to Home Screen, then confirm. The installed icon opens directly into the shell-free room.
Separate by design: installing both editions creates two independent little worlds. To move a custom companion, export their companion pack and import it into the other edition. For everything at once, create a full backup first, then restore it deliberately.

Small answers before you need them.
Roam Free inherits the Nest’s recovery, accessibility and custom-companion tools, with wording and help adapted to the room-first presentation.
Can I use my existing companion pack?
Yes. Roam Free reads the same companion-pack format. Open the heart at the top, import the pack, review its health report, then hatch. The companion is copied into Roam’s separate private library.
Can I resize detailed artwork?
Yes. Each companion keeps their own A− and A+ size, vertical placement and close-up setting. The magnifier enlarges custom art inside the room and steps away automatically during arcade games.
Can Roam Free connect to an agent?
Yes, but only when you choose. Open Mind → Setup, enable the agent Mind and select the demo or your paired provider. Roam uses the same permission controls, secure relay and privacy preview as Connected Nest. Turn the switch off at any time to return to the fully local companion. Do scenes and themes still work?
Yes. Scenes fill the room behind the companion. Styles recolour the interface and change its display, companion-voice and reading fonts. Shell uploads are intentionally absent because Roam has no shell to replace.
What happens when an update arrives?
Your current moment remains safe. Roam shows an update notice and waits for you to accept it; reopening does not silently throw away unsaved state. Recovery points and downloaded backups remain the safest way back.
Will it work offline?
After one complete online launch, the interface, built-in rooms and built-in companions are cached for offline use. Custom art already stored on the device remains local and available.
How do I create someone new?

Keep the little world. Leave the shell behind.
Open Roam Free in the browser first, then install it when the room feels right. Keep it entirely local or invite a mind later—the original Nest remains exactly where you left it.
